Our design and development process emphasizes designing quality in from the start, when defects can be easily corrected without impacting turbine availability. We accomplish this with a rigorous Design for Six Sigma process that produces robust designs that we subject to extensive validation testing at the component, subsystem, and system levels in our world-class test labs. Validation work even continues after production launch, as we proactively monitor our fleet to gather data that drives continuous improvement of existing and future designs.
Our Design for Six Sigma process identifies and corrects design flaws in the lab, where there is no impact on turbine performance, instead of in the field.
We have the capacity to deliver. The ongoing expansion required to meet our delivery commitments may seem daunting until put in the context of a larger GE Transportation business that builds 5,000+ railway locomotives, mining truck drive systems, drill motors, and marine drive systems per year. We know how to build massive, complex systems in large quantities. Also, we leverage GE Transportation's scale to ensure that our suppliers continue to meet our growing demand for components.
